The European Free Alliance Youth is an umbrella organization of the youth branches of regionalist and democratic nationalist political parties and organizations throughout Europe, who are actively engaged at the State-Regional and European levels. Our members work towards a greater recognition of European diversity. Although EFAy is pro-European, it believes in a different European model to the one that is being offered at the moment. EFAy works closely with the European Free Alliance (EFA), a political party active at the European level.

Criteria

The desired candidate should:
· hold an university degree (BA/MA or similar);
· have good organisation and political analysis skills;
· be looking for a challenge;
· be a good networker and team player;
· be able to use own-initiative and can work independently;
· have knowledge of EU-institutions, EU-regulations and European grant funding or is willing to learn this in the short term
· have an open attitude towards different cultures and working methods
· be fluent in English and have a sensibility towards multilingualism (a good knowledge of French, Spanish and other languages spoken by EFA parties will be an asset);
· have good knowledge of ICT;
· have basic knowledge of accounting;
· have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience for this post (experience within an EFAy group, EFA party or the EFA parliamentary group, as well as in youth work, will be an asset).

Main tasks and responsabilities

· FOLLOW UP EFAy PRIORITIES.
· NETWORKING:
o Co-ordinating the EFAy network.
o Closely liaising with EFAy Bureau, EFAy member organisations, EFA political party and parliamentary group, other political parties and organisations, participating in any meeting that are necessary for the development of the organisation. Disseminating relevant information among members and informing about any important European issue.
o Representing EFAy at events, visits to political party meetings, visits to European regions/nations, etc. as and when necessary.
o Relations with the European Institutions, mainly the European Parliament.
· COMMUNICATION:
o Drafting texts for EFAy.
o Press: To write press releases, to organise press conferences, to screen press articles, to build up relations with journalists, to update current press contacts.
o Website: To help manage the EFAy website; updating information, looking for ways of raising the number of visitors and co-ordinating an electonic newsletter.
· MANAGEMENT:
o Funding: To be in charge of the financial aspects of the organisation (dealing with the accountant, with auditors, preparing annual dossier requesting public grants –European Parliament- and party contributions, preparing final annual reports on the accounts, monitoring the good development of the financial situation).
o Legal aspects: To be in charge of the necessary updating of the legal texts for the organisation (statutes and internal rules of procedure), related issues and to make sure that EFAy accomplish all of them.
· ORGANISING TASKS:
o Organising the statutory meetings: General Assembly and Bureau meetings.
o Organising and/or co-organising all the events, publications or activities of the organisation.

Working conditions and facilities

· Working week of 38 h/week. Working hours are flexible and will include occasional work during weekends and travelling in Europe;
· Contract to start at the beginning of September 2008 (exact date to be determined between parties);
· Work contract according to Belgian law (6 months trial period); contract will be limited until August 31st 2009, with the possibility of an extension.

Applications must include a detailed curriculum vitae and an application letter stating a clear motivation AND a short political youth news item, written in English/French of no more than 400 words. Recommendation letters are welcome.

The Bureau of EFAy will draw up a short list on the 4th July. The candidates selected on the short list will be notified and invited to attend an interview in Brussels on 10th July 2008. Shortlisted candidates are eligible for a modest compensation for travel.
